Another powerful earthquake struck Turkeys Hatay province on Monday, just two weeks after devastating earthquakes killed thousands and displaced tens of thousands in the region.
The magnitude 6.3 earthquake struck a little less than 2 miles southwest of the city of Uzunbağ, at a depth of about 6 miles on Monday night, according to the U.S. Geological Survey.
A video shared by Twitter user @Faworimm shows the water in a swimming pool rippling and sloshing due to vibrations from the earthquake.
On Feb. 6, magnitude 7.8 and 7.5 earthquakes struck the region, followed by numerous aftershocks, devastating southern Turkey and northern Syria. Thousands of buildings collapsed, and rescue operations were carried out for several days.
Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdoğan announced this week that more than 373,000 people have been evacuated from areas affected by the earlier earthquakes. More than 7,000 personnel have been conducting assessments on more than 24,000 buildings that are damaged but did not collapse.
Just hours before the earthquake on Monday, U.S. Secretary of State Antony Blinken met with Erdoğan and reiterated the United States “ongoing commitment to provide all needed assistance.”
