The Transportation Security Administration is reminding travelers of the numerous prohibited items agents have recently seized from passengers’ carry-on bags in U.S. airports.
One photo shared by TSA Northeast spokesperson Lisa Farbstein shows a folding knife, a “knuckle knife,” which has a knife folded into a set of knuckles, and a throwing star seized at Wilkes-Barre/Scranton International Airport in Pennsylvania on Sunday.
Tic, tak, toe, three prohibited items in a row, all in one traveler’s carry-on bag,” Farbstein tweeted alongside the photo. “That’s a knuckle knife (knife is folded into the knuckles), a folding knife and a martial arts throwing star.”
Another photo shows a bin full of prohibited items recently seized at Lehigh Valley International Airport in Pennsylvania. There are small pocket knives, corkscrews, screwdrivers, wrenches and other tools, and even a couple of ordinary table knives.
Most of the pictured items are classified as sharp objects,” which are generally allowed in checked baggage, properly sheathed or wrapped. Brass knuckles are also allowed in checked baggage, like other types of weapons.
