Cleanup was underway after a train transporting new cars, vans and trucks derailed in Arizona overnight Wednesday, officials said.
A video shared by Coconino County Emergency Management shows the derailed BNSF train just east of Williams on Thursday. The agency said a total of 23 derailed and sustained heavy damage.
The derailment occurred at around midnight, and there were no injuries or fatalities reported, the agency said. The derailment occurred alongside what appears to be an industrial site, but the cause was not immediately clear.
Williams, located in the Kaibab National Forest, is known as the “Gateway to the Grand Canyon,” according to the citys website, and was on the Historic Route 66 until it was bypassed by Interstate 40 in 1984.
