Textron Specialized Vehicles has announced two separate recalls for snowmobiles that pose a crash hazard and utility vehicles that pose a fire hazard, according to notices posted by the U.S. Consumer Product Safety Commission.
The first recall involves Arctic Cat Model Year 2024 Catalyst 600 snowmobiles, including about 2,670 sold in the U.S. and another 891 sold in Canada. The steering cap that holds the handlebar in place can crack, causing the handlebar to become unstable, increasing the risk of a crash.
The recalled snowmobiles were sold Arctic Cat Dealers nationwide from September 2023 through April 2024 for between $13,800 and $16,100.
Textron said no injuries have been reported in connection with the recalled snowmobiles, but it received 95 reports from dealers that the steering caps cracked while being torqued during initial snowmobile setups.
Consumers should immediately stop using the recalled Arctic Cat 2024 Catalyst 600 snowmobiles, and contact their local authorized detail to schedule a free repair.
The second recall involves model years 2022 and 2023 Prowler Pro, Prowler Pro Crew, Tracker 800SX, and Tracker 800SX Crew utility vehicles, including about 10,300 sold in the U.S. and another 1,000 sold in Canada. The fuel tank cap does not fit correctly, causing a fuel leak that poses a fire hazard.
The recalled UTVs were sold at Arctic Cat and Tracker dealers nationwide, including Bass Pro Shops, Cabela’s, and independent dealerships from April 2021 through September 2023 for between $14,000 and $22,000.
Textron said it has received 48 reports of fuel leakage around the cap, but no injuries have been reported.
Customers should immediately stop using the recalled utility vehicles, and contact an authorized dealer for a free inspection and repair.
