Students Barricaded In Classroom Due To Reports Of Active Shooter At Forsyth Tech Community College, Days After Going Viral For Drag Queen Lap Dance At Pride Event (No Confirmed Connection)

Authorities confirmed there is no active shooter on the campus of Forsyth Tech Community College in Winston-Salem, N.C., Thursday, and students were being evacuated as the investigation continues.
The Winston-Salem Police Department said it received a report of an active shooter on campus at around 10:10 a.m. The campus includes the Early and Middle College at Forsyth Tech, which is part of Winston-Salem Forsyth County Schools.
Students were alerted to shelter in place. A video shared by Twitter user @_bsyncmedia_ shows students inside a classroom, hiding behind upturned tables.
“Barricaded in @ForsythTechCC continue to pray for us..-Brendan,” he tweeted alongside the video.
Shortly before noon, police confirmed there was no active shooter, and said they are continuing to investigate the threat.
Younger students who were on campus from both the local district and Stokes County Schools were bused back to their home schools Thursday afternoon, police said.
Forsyth Tech tweeted Thursday afternoon that the main campus was closed and classes are canceled at all locations for the remainder of the week.
Police are asking anyone with information about the event to call 911 or the WSPD non-emergency line at 336-773-7700.
