Prince Harry on Monday surprised fans at a screening of his Netflix docuseries Heart of Invictus, which debuted on the streamer on Wednesday.
Photos and videos shared by audience members at the Monday screening at an AMC theater in Chula Vista, Calif.,
show the Duke of Sussex seated in the theater. He also gave a speech and stopped to take selfies with fans.
The screening included the first two episodes of the series. Some tickets were given out by the United Service Organizations (USO), including to active military members, wounded warriors, and military family members.
Prince Harry, himself a veteran who served in the British Army for ten years, including two tours in Afghanistan, founded the Invictus Games for wounded warriors in 2014. The documentary series was produced by Harry and Meghan Markles company, Archewell Productions.
This new series from Archewell Productions follows a group of extraordinary competitors from around the globe — all service members who have suffered life-changing injuries or illnesses — on their road to competing at the Invictus Games, Netflix said in a statement announcing the series earlier this year.
The series follows five veterans who competed in the 2020 Invictus Games at The Hauge, Netherlands, though they were actually held in 2022 due to the pandemic.
The 2023 Invictus Games are set to begin Sept. 9 in Dusseldorf, Germany.
