The Powerball jackpot has surged to $1.09 billion after there were no winners in Monday night’s grand prize drawing.
No tickets in Monday’s drawing matched all six numbers: white balls 19, 24, 40, 42, 56 and red Powerball 23. The Power Play multiplier was 2X.
The current jackpot is the fourth largest in Powerball history, and the ninth largest jackpot in U.S. lottery history.
“For lotteries, this is our second consecutive week of being able to offer players an advertised jackpot over $1 billion,” Drew Svitko, Powerball Product Group Chair and Pennsylvania Lottery Executive Director, said in a statement. “If youre thinking of buying a ticket for Wednesdays Powerball drawing, please keep in mind, it only takes one ticket to win, and a portion of your ticket sale will stay in your state to support good causes. Have fun and good luck!”
More than 2.1 million tickets won prizes below the jackpot level in Monday’s drawing. Six tickets — sold in Florida, Maryland (2), Minnesota, North Carolina and Virginia — matched all five white balls to win $1 million prizes. Eleven tickets won $100,000 prizes, and 53 tickets won $50,000 prizes.
The jackpot was last won on New Year’s Day, by a ticket in Michigan that won a prize worth $842.4 million. Since then, there have been 39 drawings without a grand prize winner. Before that, the last jackpot was won on Oct. 11, 2023, worth $1.765 billion.
The largest Powerball jackpot was $2.04 billion won on Nov. 7, 2022.
The current $1.09 billion jackpot has an estimated cash value of $527.3 million, according to Powerball. The odds of winning the jackpot are 1 in 292.2 million, but the odds of winning any prize are 1 in 24.9. Wednesday’s drawing will be broadcast at 10:59 p.m. ET from the Florida Lottery draw studio in Tallahassee, Fla.
