Police in the Netherlands on Wednesday warned residents that an extremely venomous green mamba snake was still on the loose after escaping its enclosure on Monday.
Police warned residents and visitors in the area of Tilburg to be on the lookout for the green mamba, which is approximately six feet long and very dangerous.
The snake’s owner alerted police Monday evening that the snake was missing, and moved his other animals elsewhere until it can be captured. Police said it has been in contact with experts who think the snake may still be in his house on Goudenregenstraat in Tilburg.
Police said the experts are searching the home by placing cameras, as well as flour, to see signs of its slithering. They may also drill holes in the wall, in case it is stuck in a place it can’t get out of, or where it may be staying warm and dry.
The green mamba is a very poisonous tropical snake native to the southeastern African coast. It belongs to the same family as coral snakes and cobras.
Police are warning people not to approach the snake if they see it, and to report it immediately.
A bite from the Green Mamba is extremely poisonous. If someone is bitten, it is important that this person receives immediate medical attention, police said.
