The Metropolitan Police Department in Washington, D.C., said they are still searching for a missing puppy after seven of eight stolen puppies were safely returned to police by a community member.
According to police, the dog owner left their vehicle running and unlocked with eight puppies still inside on the 1700 block of U Street, Southeast at around 12:57 p.m. on Saturday. The suspect took the vehicle along with the puppies and fled the scene.
The vehicle was recovered, police said, but not the puppies. A community member dropped seven of the puppies off at a district police station, and they were safely returned to their owner.
One puppy, described as a 5-week-old American bull dog with a dark coat featuring white markings, remains missing, however.
MPD would like to thank the community for their help with locating these puppies, the department said in a statement. We are still seeking the publics help with locating the last puppy.
Anyone with information about the missing dog or about the suspect should take no action, police said, but instead call police or text a tip to the department’s tip line at 50411.
