Police Investigate ‘Misdelivered’ Packages Containing 30 Pounds Of Fentanyl Pills Worth $2 Million

Police in Maine are searching for the source of two misdelivered packages that contained nearly 30 pounds of fentanyl pills worth an estimated $2 million.
The Winslow Police Department said they received a complaint from a resident who received an unexpected package from California on Friday, May 3. The resident was not expecting any packages, and hadn’t ordered anything. Winslow is about 75 miles northeast of Portland.
When the package was opened, it was found to contain multiple bags of pills. Police said the pills presumptively tested positive for fentanyl, an opioid drug.
Then on Saturday, the resident received a second unexpected package containing more pills. In total, police say the packages contained approximately 29.5 pounds of pills, worth up to $2 million if sold on the street.
Winslow Deputy Police Chief Randy Wing said in a press release that the investigation into the origin of the packages is ongoing, and no further information was available.
