Pittsburgh Penguins Say Shipment Of Jaromír Jágr Bobbleheads Were Stolen In Cargo Heist

The Pittsburgh Penguins on Thursday announced a shipment of Jaromír Jágr bobbleheads was stolen after it arrived in California, and won’t be available for a planned fan giveaway at Thursday night’s game.
The team said they learned of the cargo theft after they failed to receive the shipment of bobbleheads, and have been in contact with state and federal authorities who are working to locate the shipment.
This is an open investigation and no further comment will be made in order to not hamper with the recovery of the goods, the team said in a statement.
The giveaway was planned for Thursday night’s game against the San Jose Sharks at Pittsburgh’s PPG Paints Arena, where longtime Penguins star Jágr will be in attendance. The team said the giveaway will be planned for a later date.
“We were shocked to be a victim of cargo theft, and we are working closely with local and federal authorities on the investigation” said Penguins President of Business Operations Kevin Acklin. “While this unfortunate incident adds to the legend of Jaromír Jágr, who will be in attendance as our guest at tonights game, we look forward to resolving this theft and delivering the prized Jágr bobbleheads to their rightful homes, with our fans.
Fans in attendance Thursday night will receive a voucher with a one-time scannable barcode that will allow them to pick up a bobblehead at a later date, the team said. Pickup dates and location will be announced after the bobbleheads are recovered, or after new bobbleheads are produced and shipped.
Jágr, 52, played 11 seasons with the Penguins, leading the team to win the Stanley Cup in 1991 and 1992. The Olympic Gold medalist is the fourth-leading scorer in NHL history, and played the last of his 24 seasons in the league with the Calgary Flames in 2017–2018. He is among the 2024 inductees for the International Ice Hockey Federation Hall of Fame.
