Animal-rights activists ran through the streets of Pamplona, Spain, in dinosaur costumes on Tuesday to protest the Running of the Bulls during the Festival of San Fermn, which begins Wednesday. A video shared by PETA UK shows supporters of the animal-rights organizations PETA and AnimaNaturalis marching through Pamplona, following the same route as the Running of the Bulls. Some wore dinosaur costumes while others wore white clothes with the traditional red scarf and red waistband worn by festival participants. They can be seen holding signs that read Bullfighting is prehistoric in multiple languages. This year, 42 terrified young bulls will be chased through the streets by a mob of people to the bullring, PETA UK said in a statement. Many of the tourists who take part in the festival dont realize that the same bulls will later be stabbed to death in the bullring. The activists are calling on the festival to reinvent itself by featuring non-violent activities instead. PETA says it has offered the mayor of Pamplona 298,000 euros to cancel the annual Running of the Bulls.
