A paraglider out for his usual Sunday flight in South Florida spotted a woman clinging to her submerged vehicle in a canal, and came to her rescue.
Cristiano Piquet was filming his flight near Homestead, a suburb of Miami, when he spotted a woman in a canal “holding for her life.”
A video shared by Piquet shows the woman in the water, screaming for help as she hold onto her car.
Piquet quickly landed nearby, but he was on the other side of the canal. As he runs toward her he shouts, “Need help?”
“Oh my God,” she replies. “I fell with my car in here.” Piquet enlisted the help of a nearby resident, who can be seen using ropes to pull the woman to safety. The woman, exhausted from the ordeal, can be seen hugging the good Samaritan.
Another clip shows emergency responders on the scene. “Mission accomplished,” Piquet says.
