Law enforcement and wildlife officials in Oregon found 18 dead, frozen puppies at a residence that were allegedly used to feed the homeowner’s pet snakes.
The Columbia County Sheriff’s Office said it executed a search warrant on Friday at a home in the rural Goble area, about 40 miles north of Portland, after Columbia County Animal Control received a report that the resident was freezing litters of puppies to feed to their pet snakes.
Eighteen dead, frozen puppies were seized during the search, and they were transported to the Oregon Humane Society to determine their cause of death.
Several snakes were located at the residence, and one was seized by the Oregon Department of Fish and Wildlife as part of the ongoing investigation.
Although no arrests were immediately announced, a spokesperson for the sheriff’s office told KOIN the department is working with the Columbia County District Attorneys Office on potential charges for the individuals involved.
