The Oklahoma City Police Department on Tuesday revealed that five people found dead inside a residence on Monday all belonged to the same family, though they say it remains a mystery why the father carried out the murder-suicide.
Oklahoma City Police Master Sgt. Gary Knight said Monday that officers responded at around 9:35 a.m. to a report of five deceased people inside a residence in Yukon, about 20 miles east of Oklahoma City.
Jonathon Candy, 42, apparently turned his gun on himself after shooting and killing his wife, 39-year-old Lindsay Candy, and three of their children, 18-year-old Dylan Candy, 14-year-old Ethan Candy and 12-year-old Lucas Candy, police said in a statement Tuesday.
A fourth child in the home was unharmed and released to family members, police said.
It remains a mystery as to what caused Mr. Candy to murder his wife and three of his children, police said.
Investigators are asking anyone with information that may shed light on a possible motive to come forward or submit an anonymous tip.
