NYPD Cold Case Detectives ask for help investigating 1995 murder of Sofia Vale

The New York City Police Department’s cold case detectives are still looking for information in the 1995 homicide of Sofia Vale. According to police, Vale’s body was found in Jamaica, Queens, on April 14, 1995, stuffed in the trunk of a stolen car that was set on fire. It was determined she had been beaten and strangled, police said. According to the Queens District Attorney’s office, Vale was last seen being dropped off at her home in the vicinity of 2111 La Fontaine Avenue in the Bronx on April 9, 1995, at approximately 3:30 a.m. She was 34 years old at the time. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward or submit an anonymous tip.
