Commuters riding the train from New Jersey into New York City were delayed Thursday morning as a long-horned bull ran loose on the tracks in Newark.
The bull was first reported on the tracks at Newark-Penn Station at around 10:30 a.m. Thursday, and it took around an hour to round him up.
New Jersey Transit posted on X, formerly Twitter, warning riders of up to 45 minutes of delays due to police activity, and jokingly wrote, Police activity: above a photo of the bull on the track.
Videos shared on social media show shocked commuters looking on as the bull runs along the tracks.
The animal was eventually corralled into a fenced lot near Newark Liberty International Airport and tranquilized, officials said. It was transported to Skylands Animal Sanctuary and Rescue in Wantage.
The sanctuary posted an update on Facebook saying the bull was safe, but heavily sedated, alongside a photo. His name is Ricardo.
It was still unclear Thursday afternoon where the bull came from.
