A chaotic scene unfolded at Lake Eola Park in downtown Orlando Monday night when crowds fled the Fireworks at the Fountain event for unclear reasons. A video shared by Twitter user @bibi2dworl shows people running and screaming as the fireworks continue to explode in the background. People can be heard asking each other what happened, but nobody seems to know. We have not found any evidence to indicate that a shot was fired, Orlando Police Chief Orlando Rolon said in a press conference Tuesday. Police said the chain reaction of people running began in an area near Central Boulevard just east of Rosalind Avenue. A video from the event, released by police, shows a couple of individuals sort of jogging, with hoodies on, that actually caught the attention of some of the people who were there, Rolon said. Shortly after they cross the screen, people in the crowd begin to panic. Police said another video provided by an attendee showed that at the time the crowd first ran, someone was setting off fireworks on nearby Pine Street. Did that have anything to do with the reason why someone began to run? We dont know, Rolon said. Police are asking anyone who saw anything suspicious to come forward, and have provided a portal for attendees to share videos.
