Michigan State Police this week arrested Dale John Warner in connection with the 2021 disappearance of his wife, Dee Ann Warner on charges of open murder and tampering with evidence.
Dee Warner was reported missing in April 2021 by three of her adult children. She shares one daughter with Dale Warner, 53, whom she married in 2006, and has four others from a previous marriage. Her body has not been found, police said.
Dale Warner was arrested at his home in Tipton Township on Tuesday and arraigned on Wednesday, police said. He was being held on a $20 million bond.
“Working a no body homicide brings on unique challenges. The detectives on this case have done a phenomenal job with the investigation, and working collaboratively with the Lenawee County Prosecutor, Detective First Lieutenant Michael Dillon, Commander of the First District Special Investigative Section said in a statement. “I have the utmost confidence in this case moving forward.
Dee Warner was last seen by a family friend on April 24, then by her husband on the morning of April 25.
In an appearance on NBC’s Dateline last year, her brother, Gregg Hardy, said that Dale Warner told him he saw her leave that morning with a travel bag, a phone, a curling iron and hair spray. But Hardy said she would never leave without her car or youngest child.
Hardy said his sister had a trucking company and a farm business. He said that just before her disappearance there had been a business dispute between Dee Warner and her husband, as well as one or more of her employees.
I am extremely proud of the tireless work our detectives have put in to solve this case,” said Captain Steve ONeill, Commander First District Headquarters. “With incredible determination, they have pieced together a very difficult case culminating with an arrest. This arrest is another step in our investigation, and we will continue our efforts to bring closure to the family and to find Dee Warners remains so that her family can lay her to rest.”
