A family of three was found dead in their mansion in Massachusetts Thursday night, in what police believe was a domestic violence incident, authorities said Friday.
The Dover Police Department said officers responded to a multimillion-dollar residence on Wilson’s Way shortly before 7:30 p.m. on Thursday after receiving a call from a concerned family member who tried visiting the home. They arrived to find Rakesh Kamal, 57, his wife Teena, 54, and their 18-year-old daughter, Ariana dead at the scene.
Speaking at a press conference on Friday, Norfolk District Attorney Michael Morrissey described the incident as a domestic violence situation with a gun found near the father’s body. Morrissey stopped short of confirming it as a murder-suicide, however, pending a ruling from the medical examiner’s office.
He said the reporting relative stopped by to check on the family after not hearing from them for several days.
Morrissey said the incident took place in “a nice neighborhood, a safe community, and said there had been no previous reports of domestic violence or police calls at the home.
“I hate to see it at any time,” Morrissey said. “I think some of the tensions that people feel in relationships often come out around the holidays.”
