LASD seizes 12,000 fentanyl pills disguised as candy at Los Angeles International Airport

Authorities at Los Angeles International Airport in California seized some 12,000 suspected fentanyl pills hidden in popular candy packages, according to a statement from the Los Angeles County Sheriffs Office. At around 7:30 a.m. on Wednesday, the suspect allegedly attempted to go through screening by the Transportation Security Administration with several bags and boxes of candy, including Whoppers, Skittles and SweeTarts. When it was discovered the packages contained pills, the suspect fled. The suspect has been identified, and the investigation is ongoing, the sheriffs office said.
