Los Angeles police are asking for the public’s help identifying more than 200 stolen electronic devices recovered while executing a search warrant at a local store.
The Los Angeles Police Department said officers and detectives served a search warrant on the 2000 block of W. 6th Street on Wednesday, Dec. 13, and arrested a woman suspected of receiving stolen property related to retail store theft.
While recovering merchandise stolen from retail stores, detectives also found laptop computers, iPads, iPhones and other personal electronics they believe to have been taken in home and vehicle burglaries in the Los Angeles area.
Police discovered an Apple MacBook that was taken from a vehicle near Echo Park last month. That burglary also involved $45,000 worth of cameras and camera equipment, much of which was recovered from the store last week. Detectives tracked down the owner after discovering a video on one of the cameras featuring a local investigative reporter’s news report.
Detectives also identified eight laptops belonging to the Los Angeles Unified School District, one laptop belonging to the Los Angeles Public Library, and one laptop belonging to the Beverly Hills Unified School District.
Detectives are asking the public’s help in identifying the owners of the recovered electronics, to determine whether they were also victims. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward or submit an anonymous tip.
