A Georgia man was arrested Friday and charged with threatening to kill Rep. Marjorie Taylor Greene (R-Ga.) along with her family and her staff.
Sean Patrick Cirillo, 34, of Macon, allegedly called Greene’s office on Wednesday and threatened to shoot and kill her next week, referring to payback, and told staffers, I’ll kill you too, if you want.
Cirillo is scheduled to appear in federal court on Monday, according to the U.S. Attorneys Office for the Northern District of Georgia.
Greene thanked law enforcement in a statement on Friday.
From Rome City Police, the Floyd County Sheriffs Office, U.S. Capitol Police, the House Sergeant at Arms, and ultimately the FBI who made the arrest, every official acted quickly to put this man behind bars, Greene said.
Im not the only victim with this threat of violence. My family is threatened. My staff is threatened. I even had to close my district office due to the potential of violence. Its wrong and never should happen, Greene said. Threats of violence must be taken seriously. And thats exactly why I take my Second Amendment rights seriously.
