Firefighters Battle Trailer Home Fire in Naples, FL

A fire engine strike team from the Broward County Sheriffs Office in southeast Florida is aiding Hurricane Ian relief efforts on the southwest coast. A video shared by the sheriffs office on Wednesday shows firefighters battling a nighttime blaze at a mobile home in Naples. “As the first to arrive to a fully involved trailer fire, the team established command and went into attack mode to keep the fire from spreading to an adjacent structure,” the sheriffs office wrote alongside the video on Facebook. Recovery operations continue in Florida after Ian slammed into the states southwest coast last week as a powerful Category 4 hurricane, inundating several counties with catastrophic storm surge and flooding rains. In an update Wednesday evening, the Florida Medical Examiners Commission increased the official death toll to 89, with 49 of those in Lee County, which suffered a direct hit. Five have been recorded so far in Collier County, which includes Naples. District medical examiners report hurricane deaths to the commission after an autopsy confirms the death is storm-related, the agency said.
