A dog was “accidentally sent through the X-ray” inside a passengers carry-on bag at a Wisconsin airport last week, according to the Transportation Security Administration. Photos shared by TSA Great Lakes show the passengers backpack inside a security bin at Dane County Regional Airport (MSN) in Madison, as well as the X-ray scan showing the pup inside. The passenger had disclosed the dog to the airline, but wasnt aware of proper pet screening procedures, per reports. “At the checkpoint, remove your pet from the bag and send all items, including the empty carrier, to be screened in the machine,” TSA Great Lakes tweeted as a reminder. “If you think your pet will attempt an escape, ask to speak with a supervisor before removing the animal. Alternative screening options may be available.” Another pet was accidentally X-rayed when a cat stowed away in a suitcase to hitch a Thanksgiving ride on a flight out of New Yorks John F. Kennedy International Airport last month. The cat was safely retrieved by its owner and returned to Brooklyn.
