Multiple people were seriously injured when a commercial truck ran into a Texas Department of Public Safety office, officials said.
A reportedly stolen 18-wheeler was intentionally crashed into the Texas DPS office in Brenham, about 75 miles northwest of Houston, Friday morning.
Texas DPS said the suspect was in custody and the Texas Rangers are investigating. The agency said there was no further threat to the community.
The agency said there were multiple serious injuries, while Montgomery County Judge Mark Keough described the incident on Facebook as a mass casualty event.
Pray for our Texas DPS as theyre experiencing a mass casualty incident in Brenham with a major vehicle accident at their office. No word on injuries at this time, Keough wrote.
In an update, Keough said the suspect was apparently bitter about being denied a CDL, or commercial driver’s license.
I have been briefed and this incident was intentional and done by the suspect who was denied a CDL yesterday. He returned today with intent to harm, Keough said. Continued prayers for the DPS staff, troopers and civilians affected.
Texas DPS did not immediately specify how many people were injured, and no fatalities were reported.
The agency said it would provide updates in a press conference later Friday.
