Police in New Jersey are searching for a suspect captured on surveillance video throwing a Molotov cocktail at a synagogue early Sunday.
Surveillance images released by the Bloomfield Division of Public Safety show the masked suspect holding a lit Molotov cocktail outside Temple Ner Tamid at about 3:19 a.m. Sunday.
According to police, who were called to the temple at around 9 a.m., surveillance footage showed that the suspect threw the Molotov cocktail at the front door and fled. The glass broke, but it did not damage the temple, police said.
Temple Ner Tamid describes itself on its website as a socially conscious Reform congregation, and it includes a preschool and a religious school for students K-12.
The attempted arson is being investigated as a bias incident. Police are asking anyone with information to come forward or submit an anonymous tip.
