Baby Bald Eagle Rescued After Falling From Nest In California

Fire rescue and wildlife officials in California rescued a baby bald eagles that fell out of its nest on Saturday.
Metro Fire of Sacramento shared a video that showed an arborist climbing around 100 feet up a tree overhanging an embankment on the bluffs of the American River, where a large eagle nest could be seen in its branches. The eaglet had fallen out and appeared to be stuck in lower branches, at risk of falling further.
The arborist scooped up the eaglet and transported it down to waiting wildlife officials.
Working with State Parks, Fish and Game, and [California] Wildlife Encounters, an Arborist from Sierra Pacific Tree Services was called out and made an amazing rescue, Metro Fire wrote on X, formerly Twitter, alongside the video and photos.
The eaglet was taken to Gold Country Wildlife Rescue, and it underwent a veterinary examination on Sunday, the organization wrote in an update on Facebook.
We are happy to share that it is doing well, and just had its first full exam with Dr. Vickie Joseph of Bird Of Prey Health Group (BPHG). We work closely with Dr. Joseph and BPHG as they are experts in eagles and all other raptors, Gold Country Wildlife Rescue said.
The wildlife rescue said they are awaiting the results of bloodwork, along with an inspection of the nest area, before taking the next steps to return the eaglet to the wild.
As of now its safe, secure, and eating like a champ, the rescue said.
