Indiana State Police arrested one suspect and identified another in the death of a 5-year-old boy who was found inside a Las Vegas-themed suitcase in April. The boy, identified as Cairo Ammar Jordan from Atlanta, Ga., would have turned six this week, police said. His body was found in a wooded, isolated area of southern Indiana, and his cause of death was determined to be an electrolyte imbalance caused by viral gastroenteritis, or vomiting and diarrhea. One suspect, identified as 37-year-old Dejuane Ludie Anderson of Atlanta, is the boys biological mother, police revealed. In a press conference Wednesday, Indiana State Police Sgt. Carey Huls said Anderson had not yet been located. She is described as a black female, standing about 5 feet, 5 inches tall, weighing about 135 pounds, with short, dark brown hair in her last known photo, though she often wears wigs or extensions. She was last seen in the Los Angeles area. In addition to her drivers license photo, police released a mugshot of Anderson from Louisville Metro Corrections in Kentucky. She was arrested there and charged with second-degree robbery less than a month before her son died, police said. She was released on April 11, five days before her son was found. The second suspect, 40-year-old Dawn Elaine Coleman from Shreveport, La., was arrested in San Francisco this week. According to police, the boy was under Colemans care while Anderson was incarcerated. Warrants on charges of neglect of a dependent resulting in death and obstruction of justice were issued for both women. Police said that based on their investigation, the court on Tuesday issued an arrest warrant for Anderson on a charge of murder. Huls said the case will be handled by the Washington County Prosecutor’s Office in Indiana, where the boy was found.
